{"id":750,"date":"2020-10-24T08:20:41","date_gmt":"2020-10-24T13:20:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fruechtetheory.com\/blog\/?p=750"},"modified":"2020-10-24T08:30:59","modified_gmt":"2020-10-24T13:30:59","slug":"a-number","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fruechtetheory.com\/blog\/2020\/10\/24\/a-number\/","title":{"rendered":"A Number"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fifteen years ago today I started an attempt to calculate gravity, after coming up with the concept on August 10<sup>th<\/sup> of the same year.&nbsp; With a web search of \u201cdiameter of the electron\u201d, reference number 3 of my April 2007 paper was found.&nbsp; The link does not come in anymore, though there would be other places where Ernest Rutherford\u2019s 1914 publication \u201cThe Structure of the Atom\u201d can be found.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Starting with the diameter of the electron as the wavelength of a photon, I used hc\/\u03bb to produce an energy in Joules.&nbsp; In the April 2007 paper it says: \u201cNoticing that this number is on the order of the gravitational constant, it becomes worthwhile to proceed \u2026\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sometime in 2007 or 2008 I sent a copy of the paper to Professor Converse Blanchard, with a note in the front thanking him for teaching me physics.&nbsp; He sent the paper back to me with a cordial note in the front and a few markups throughout the paper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One marking, at the spot noted above, was: \u201cThe grav constant is not an energy, and so this coincidence is without meaning.\u201d&nbsp; My answer to this is that a number is a number, &#8211; it has no units.&nbsp; It is as Wilfred Kaplan states in Advanced Calculus on page 6: \u201cWe stress that det A is a number, \u2026\u201d&nbsp; Otherwise, in the case of hc\/\u03bb we would speak of an \u201cenergy\u201d and not a \u201cnumber\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is worth noting that most of Professor Blanchard\u2019s comments were constructive.&nbsp; Later in the paper, relating to the quark coincidence, he wrote: \u201camusing!\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My studies lately have been mostly in mathematics.&nbsp; I have four books that are specifically on the topic of Advanced Calculus as well as several other math books.&nbsp; Once in a while, I go back to a physics book and things come back quickly with my old markings and tabs sometimes leading the way.&nbsp; Can do the same with engineering books, such as that Tds = du + Pdv.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nineteen days after October 24, 2005, the calculation was made complete with<br>G = 4hf\/3 m<sup>3<\/sup> kg<sup>-1<\/sup> s<sup>-2<\/sup>.&nbsp; As can be seen in the diagram at the top of the blog, the units on the constant 4\/3 are m\/kg<sup>2<\/sup>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fifteen years ago today I started an attempt to calculate gravity, after coming up with the concept on August 10th of the same year.&nbsp; With a web search of \u201cdiameter of the electron\u201d, reference number 3 of my April 2007 paper was found.&nbsp; The link does not come in anymore, though there would be other [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[18],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-750","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-mathematics"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.fruechtetheory.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/750","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.fruechtetheory.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.fruechtetheory.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.fruechtetheory.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.fruechtetheory.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=750"}],"version-history":[{"count":3,"href":"https:\/\/www.fruechtetheory.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/750\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":753,"href":"https:\/\/www.fruechtetheory.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/750\/revisions\/753"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.fruechtetheory.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=750"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.fruechtetheory.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=750"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.fruechtetheory.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=750"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
